For this assignment I decided to do animals because I got food poisoning after my meet and could no longer go out to take motion shots as I had originally planned. My best shot I actually took in December over winter break, when a hawk landed right outside my window. The rest of my shots are of my cats and one of my friend's dogs. It was extremely difficult to get any good pictures because they were always moving and whenever I got close to the dogs all they wanted to do was lick the camera, but it worked out in the end.
For my three words I decided to do trust, time and tranquility. Each of these words I think has a deeper meaning that goes beneath the basic definition of the word. I believe that the pictures I chose represent the word to a significant degree. During this assignment I also discovered the smudge tool which I continued to use on all three of my images in this assignment.

For this photo assignment I decided to do event due to the fact that my gymnastics team hosted a meet at Saline Middle School called the Wolverine Classic. Even though I was there for hours upon hours this weekend I still found it difficult to find time to take pictures between competing, working, and assistant coaching at the meet. I ended up taking a lot of photos of the decorations and a few of the level 4s who I occasionally help coach. The meet was a lot of hard work and took a great deal of time, but it was still a fun experience. For my best picture I turned it into black and white to make the symbol stand out more and to help minimize the distracting background.
For this assignment we had to find a photoshop tutorial online that we wanted to try and create a picture. For mine I used a picture of a campfire and photoshopped it to look like the horses mane and tail were on fire. By doing this assignment I learned quite a bit more about photoshop, especially using the liquify and the brush tools.

For this assignment I decided to do still life. I ended up using a black sweatshirt on my bed in order to get the background. The necklace in this picture is really old and belonged to my great-grandmother so I tried to get the beat feeling that it gives off in my picture. The only problem was that I had to use a high ISO in order to expose the picture enough so it got a little grainy. I also like how the chain in the background is in the shape of a heart.
For this assignment I chose to do food. I had planned on during architecture since I was in Chicago, but it was snowing the whole time so my pictures came out unfocused and grayish. This picture was taken on my kitchen table with the use of a desk lamp to give it shadows and depth. I also had a few pictures of desserts that I had already taken at an earlier time to add into the pictures I took last night. It was fun to shoot pictures of food, but it was difficult to not eat it at the same time.
For this assignment we learned about two different lighting technics. The first is called the window light portrait. For this one you use sunlight and a white bounce card on the opposite side to combat the shadows from the sunlight. The second one is called the "3 - point" Lighting Setup. This involves having a backdrop a hair light to help separate the subject from the background, a key light which is the brightest and a fill light which helps remove the shadows. Between the key light and fill light you want about a 60 - 40 balance in brightness.
I have always loved black and white photos. For me they are simple yet have a complexity at the same time that draws me in. I took black and white last year and loved it and it’s nice to know that I can alter my photos to look like they did in black and white photography. This picture was taken in my back yard and it is actually of me as I set up the camera and then used the self timer to get the shot.
These are my panoramic pictures. Each one is at least three photos placed together. I found this project both gratifying and immensely frustrating. It was difficult to get photoshop to corporate.
At first I was quite intimidated for this demo; I thought that it would be a lot more difficult than it actually was. I had to learn about what the time delay from the camera and also how to pan the camera to get the effect of the subject in focus and a blurry background.
For this assignment I decided to do macro. I first took some photos outside at millpond of the ice and snow, however I got cold and decided to finish the rest at home. It was interesting to find how many objects can actually be used for macro and at the same time be interesting. My favorite things to shoot were my shoes and a weird bouncy ball.
For my second assignment I decided to do macro. Now that I understand how the camera works a little bit better I am looking forward to being able to use that knowledge to tackle this new project.

The photos above are all out of the box and to me that's what make them stand out. I hope to be able to make my photos the fruit loops in a world full of cheerios.
This was our second photoshop assignment. We had to retouch a picture of a car making changes such as blacking out the background, getting rid of some of the glare of the lights and tinting the windshield. I know that I'm just beginning to touch on what photoshop has to offer and I'm already impressed. Just within this assignment I learned about layering a photo, adjusting the level of a photograph, and use a variety of tools such as the lasso. Below are the before and after pictures for this assignment.
For this assignment I decided to do people. I took photos of one of my best friends who is a dancer. For the first section of photos I used my half finished addition on my house as the background and then later we went to Millpond. It was a good experience to be able to play around with the different composition elements while not actually focusing on one.

In this assignment we used photoshop for the first time to alter an image with a pop art affect. We changed the hue on each of the four copies to a different setting. The result is the image above. The image is of some of my old team members. I learned quite a bit of new information about photoshop in the process and i know that I have barley begun to go beneath the surface. I look forward to using photoshop more in the future even though it is frustrating sometimes.
For my first assignment I am choosing the category of people. Although it is a topic of endless subjects I hope to be able to capture the essence that each and every person gives off in their own individual way. I am also looking forward to being able to play around with the new elements of composition that I have recently learned about.

I believe that these are great pictures for the category of people as they are both a random moment that was captured in time. They tell a story about the person featured.

From this assignment I learned about composing a photograph and the many elements that are involved including those listed above. Before this assignment I knew a few of these elements such as the "rule of thirds", symmetry, color, etc. from my black and white photography class last year. However, I also stumbled across a few that were unfamiliar like framing, space, and balance. Framing is used to highlight the main point of interest in the photo and gives the image depth creating a more 3d picture. Space is filling the photo of the frame using zoom, but also leaving room to breath in order to not crowd the photo. Balance is when a picture holds a second point of interest to balance out the main point. Besides the elements used in composition I also had to learn the basic workings of a mac computer (prefer dell!!!) and the programs used to organize, edit and show my pictures.
